First, because they’re a recolor, they aren’t an OC they look exactly like an existing character. Recolors are discouraged for several reasons. They aren’t necessarily bad, but it’s incorrect to say it’s an OC because it was based off of and is made to be like an existing character. While a genderbend can be an interesting idea for an AU, it doesn’t qualify as an OC. It’s always important to know what should and shouldn’t be done before starting! When making an OC, a lot can be done well, but just as much can be done poorly. So, you want to make an OC, but aren’t sure where to start?
